Depending on the current stage of investment opportunities, you are trading money for digital currency. Cryptocurrency or tokens (sometimes in the form of NFT’s). These are a kind of share in the Real Estate Investment DAO. They can be bought and sold as well as traded for other assets.

A very important part of investing with any DAO is participation. Not only is participation important for decision making, it is also required.

The community votes on how much is paid to contributors and payscales can be adjusted through voting. This eliminates the possiblilty of some CEO taking a $24M salary for themselves. All profits go to reinvesting to build value, or dividends to token holders.

This is also the most risky. As this money will be spent, not on real estate, but on making the DAO viable. What is a DAO?

A DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) is an organization that is governed by pre-coded rules that lives on a blockchain, where decisions are made by all members through voting, and all members have equal say, unless otherwise programmed into the DAO.

A traditional company has a person, or group of people, who make decisions on behalf of the company. A DAO is decentralized, as it is subject to the DAO members decisions as a whole. This can be programmed in all sorts of ways to be inclusive and keep a single entity from holding the majority of voting power. 

This can lead to better decision making on the part of the company, as members are typically more interested in what is in the best interest of the DAO as a whole, over personal beliefs, hangups, or motivations.

100% of your investment (minus any exchange and transaction fees) goes towards DAO’s goal of obtaining real estate. That doesn’t mean 100% will be invested in a property, as we will need some things to manage a business like this:

  • Real estate agents
  • Property management
  • DAO management
  • Website management 
  • Marketing budgets
  • Research utilities
  • etc.

That said, all of those decisions, who an how much to pay, will be determined by the DAO, and likley just be market rate plus a potential bonus in tokens from the DAO.

Why a real estate DAO?

Real estate investment is lucrative but requires a massive initial investment to get involved. The DAO gives those without the resources an opportunity to not only invest in Real Estate, but learn and potentially do it in a way that gives it an advantage (financially and intellectually) by leveraging the knowledge and experience of a large collective of people.

Getting started with cryptocurrency, tokens and DAO’s can seem overwhelming at first. 

We are going to be building on the blockchain technology called Ethereum. Here is an excellent resource to help you get started and learn more about how to setup and get acquainted with it.

The great thing about a DAO is that there is a “ragequit” mechanism built into it. Lets say that you buy 100 tokens at $100. The DAO votes to use 10% of its money on marketing, and the value has not risen from speculation, then your 100 tokens will be worth $90 and you can exit with that $90 minus any exit fees (we are starting it at 10% but the DAO members can vote to change that, or remove it). 

What About Competitors?

We strongly believe that DAO’s are the future of business. More and more businesses are going to pop up from this type of model. We encourage you to divest your portfolio and invest in other offerings. With that said, we do not currently have a directly competitor.

There are a few other options out there that we have come across and the investment percentage is very low (as low as 3% of investment) which means it is primarily just another type of token, with the transaction fees also going to a little bit of real estate…
